Leaving
In 1995 I began a series of regular walks in a wood near my home, “Leaving” is a term I attached to the cycle of leaf growth, fall and decomposition. Their skeletons are crated and decayed within this cycle. Their biological detail defines maps echoing giant landscapes. Whole worlds are held in their crumpled forms
As I really looked, the leaves took on ambiguity of scale so connected with my work of stone, water and light.
All these works were made in my studio with either natural light or very “low tech” lighting from household spot lights
